Get the Luxury Lipstick Look for a Drugstore Price
Wearing L’Oreal’s new La Laque Colour Riche Lipstick in Lacquer-ized, a shiny purple
With L’Oreal’s $8 Colour Riche La Laque and Le Matte Lipsticks, your lovely lips can get the luxury lipstick look at a wallet-friendly price.
Sure, maybe they don’t have all the fancy little touches, like embossed lipstick bullets and gold-toned caps, of pricier department store brands, but what’s inside counts, and in this case, it could pass for products in the $50 ballpark (I’m looking at you, Tom Ford!).
I recently stumbled on this new line of lipsticks cruising the beauty aisles at Rite Aid and brought two of them home on a whim (actually, it was a buy one, get one free promotion).
Purplish La Laque Colour Riche Lipstick in Lacquer-ized and reddish Le Matte in She’s So Matte
Being an equal opportunity lipstick lover — from low-end to high-end — I’ve tried and worn it all, but these — these are drugstore gems that could easily pass for pricier products from Tom Ford, Guerlain and Chanel.
Something about them just looks…expensive. Definitely more than 8 bucks. All it takes is but a single layer for rich, full-coverage color that lasts 4-5 hours.
Le Matte in She’s So Matte
And they’re available in a wide range of colors. The ones I’m wearing here are bright because I’m going through a bold lip phase, but the line also boasts mellow browns, beiges, peach and pink shades as well.
In terms of flavors and scents, drugstore lip products can be hit or miss, but I think these score hits on both counts. The faint rose fades over the course of about 10 minutes, and doesn’t smell synthetic or like plastic at all.

Not sure which ones you’ll like best? Well, if you like mattes, try the Le Mattes, or if you prefer shinier finishes, grab one of the La Laques instead. Either way, though, you can’t go wrong.
