Sea Salt Spray for Beachy Waves

1) Lush’s Sea Spray, $12.95. 2) John Masters Organics’ Sea Mist, $16.50. 3) Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray, $5.99. 4) Sachuan’s Ocean Mist, $28.

Want beachy waves, but don’t live anywhere near the ocean? It’s easier than it looks, because the key to fresh-from-the-beach waves has been bottled and stocked on your local shelves. Essentially, it’s just salt water as a base with different additives that vary from brand to brand – and usually an essential oil or conditioner to keep from drying out your locks. I highlighted some noteworthy sprays, above (I use John Masters Organics – I love the lavender oil), but as I found through many a Pinterest tip, you can easily replicate this at home. Pour warm water in a spritz bottle, a tablespooon or so of sea salt, a teaspoon of coconut oil, a little leave in conditioner (optional), and a small dollop of hair gel. Shake it up, spray it on dry or damp hair, and scrunch for a messy, seaside mane.

Have you tried the DIY salt spray, yet? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
