Oscar’s Leading Ladies: How to Recreate Their Looks

February 25th, 2013 By  |  Comment

Classic glamour seemed to be the beauty theme of this year’s Academy Awards. While most of the leading ladies rocked gorgeous carefree makeup complete with varying shades of nude lips, there were a few standouts (à la Jessica Chastain) who took it all the way retro glam with a bright red lip. Jessica took it all way Old Hollywood with her hair as well. She was styled by Renato Campora using Vidal Sassoon Pro Series.

The overall makeup looks were fresh faced and very light, with blushing cheeks and glowing skin as the focus.  The eyes were played up with some lashes, but never overdone.

Makeup artist Ashley Ann Harris shared how to recreate three of our favorite looks. Renato also shared how he styled Jessica’s gorg waves.

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer is the ideal fresh faced beauty.

To get Jennifer’s look, sweep L’oreal Infallible 24hr Eyeshadow in Liquid
Diamond over your lid and under your lower lash line.  Apply Maybelline Lasting Drama by EyeStudio Gel Eyeliner in black to the upper and lower lash line. Blend out.

Apply two coats of Covergirl LashBlast mascara to your lashes.  You can add
Ardell individual lashes to the top of your own lashes in the corners if you
prefer a little more drama to your eyes.

To get Jennifer’s gorgeous glow, use L’Oréal true match super Blendable
blush in baby blossom.

Apply Revlon’s Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Coral Reef.

To keep your skin matte like Jennifer’s, use Skindinavia’s No
More Shine Setting Spray as the final step of your makeup application.  It
sets your makeup and keeps you looking red carpet ready for 16 hours!

Jessica Chastain

One classic beauty.
To achieve Jessica’s makeup look, apply CoverGirl intense Shadow Blast in Beige
Blaze to your lids.

Apply two coats of Covergirl lash blast mascara.

You can add Ardell strip lashes to glam up your look.

Apply Rimmel Colour Show Off Lipstick in Red Fever.

Set the look with Skindinavia No More Shine Setting Spray for a matte, retro look.

The Hair: Hollywood Glamour
Renato and Jessica went for a Hollywood Glamour look – a style that was perfectly suited for the biggest award show of the year. As soon as Renato and Jessica saw the dress, they knew they wanted to create a glamorous look from head to toe. Jessica’s deep side part and curled layers frame her face while giving a luxurious feel. Her classic, sophisticated hairstyle complements her Armani Prive dress, Christian Louboutin heels and bold, red lipstick. To finish the look, Renato tucked her hair on the left side to showcase the gorgeous Harry Winston vintage earrings.

Here’s how Renato created Jessica’s look:
1. First create a deep side part. Then prep damp hair with Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Boost & Lift Foaming Air Mousse, applying at the length for touchable volume.

2.Blow dry hair with a large round brush until it’s dry.

3.Then spritz Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Heat Protect & Shine Spray to protect hair while curling it. Using a 1 1/2 inch curling iron, curl the ends for 10 seconds, remove and then pin immediately.

4.Once the hair cools, remove the pins and brush the curls out for a soft wave. Tuck hair behind one ear.

5.To finish, spray hair with Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Flexible Hold Hairspray to hold the style in place, leaving it with a sleek, finished look.

Halle Berry

To achieve Halle’s look, apply L’oreal infallible 24hr eyeshadow in Bronzed Taupe to lid and the lower lash line.

Apply two coats of  Organic Wear Jumbo Lash Mascara in Ultra Black.

Use L’oreal True Match Super Blendable blush in subtle sable to brighten the cheeks the natural glow.

Finish the look with L’oreal Colour Riche Lipcolour in Fairest Nude.
